Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been posting consistently on my blog recently.
There are a couple of big reasons for that.
First (real talk here), I have had some serious writer’s block. There are plenty of things that I could talk about, sure. I have just felt really burned out recently. With everything going on in the world and in my own little world, the words haven’t been coming to me as easily. It’s a season. And when I have something to say, I’ll say it.
Second, I’ve been re-thinking my blog and the topics I like to write about. I love blogging and I have had so much fun writing posts each week and publishing them every Friday over the last couple of years. Building the habit of writing consistently helped me grow as a writer more than almost anything else.
At this point in my life, for various reasons, I don’t think I can sustain that anymore.
However, I’m finding out that a lot of the topics I enjoy writing about can be better communicated with shorter posts. Different platforms work better for different things. Sometimes a short truth can be more meaningful than a wordy blog post.
So, I thought that it might be time to try something new.
This month at least, for the sake of my sanity, my content, and my growth as a writer, I am cutting back to posting on my blog every other Friday and giving more energy and focus to my Instagram page. During the weeks that I don’t post on the blog, I am hoping to post more personal updates, bite-sized devotionals, and whatever else happens to be on my heart that doesn’t really work as a polished blog post. If it works well this month, then I might keep doing it like this. We’ll see how it goes.
I love writing and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. At the risk of being terribly sappy, this blog feels like an old friend. It’s been with me through some of the best and worst times in my life and I don’t plan on giving it up anytime soon.
But life changes. And sometimes we have to change with it.
I hope you stick around while I try out some of these new ideas. Sometimes I just have to shake things up a bit.
Good things are coming, and I can’t wait to show you more of what I’ve been working on.
As always, I would welcome any feedback or comments you have. I want you as a reader to feel encouraged and hopeful because of my writing, and I love when you guys help me do that better.
Thank you for joining me on the crazy journey. Grab some coffee and settle in because I’m not going anywhere. Oh, and go follow me on Instagram so we can stay connected!
