I seriously struggled with Bible reading.
No matter how many articles and books I read about spiritual discipline, I always fell short of where I wanted to be. I felt like a horrible Christian for not being like other believers who were able to successfully prioritize their time in the Word. I tried all the tricks— journaling, Bible reading plans, accountability groups. While these were all helpful tools, they were ineffective means of changing my heart towards Bible reading.
I knew Bible study was important. I knew I wanted it to be a consistent part of my life. But until I truly grasp why, the tips and tricks to be faithful will continue to fall short.
This article is not a step-by-step plan to crush your spiritual goals. This is just simple truth straight from the Word of God about the Word of God.
Let these truths inspire you to spend time in the Word for the right reasons.
1. The Word guards from sin.
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.”
